Snow Kiteboarding

Snow kiting

One of the newest sports to hit the slopes, snow kiting is the continuation of snow boarding/skiing cross kite surfing. Using large foil kites and the wind to propel the kite rider along the snow, it allows for extreme moves whilst allowing access to remote areas without the hours of hiking.

Snow kiting is an easier sport to learn than it’s counterpart kiteboarding. The rider is standing on the snow, which makes propulsion from the kite easier to generate, than water starts.
It takes less wind to drive the rider with their board or skis over the snow, hence the learning process is quickly established and the edging up wind is easier through the snow.

Kites
Snow kites are similar in principle to kite surfing kites. you have the choice of ram-air foil kites or inflatable, although you do run the risk with an inflatable of damage when crashing onto the snow or rocky terrain.

Boards
Snowkiting boards are more rectangular and wider in shape than a regular snowboard. The reason for that, is that when moving on the snow the rider needs to maintain a consistent edge for travelling up wind and for popping big tricks.

Gale Force has a huge range of snowkiting gear available by Jochum and Nesler, two snow specific kites, the Randas (C-Shape ram-air) and the Luis Ram Air both foil kites designed to help the beginner rider to the professional. The Snow Tiger board, made in Austria out of the Atomic factory is the board that will take you all the way from humble beginnings to the extreme riding.

If you’re looking for the best quality gear at a reasonable price, look no further than Gale Force for all you snowkiting needs, equipment and advice
